Wrangler and Gladiator Rubicon
You simply cannot speak about off-roading vehicles without mentioning the Jeep Rubicon lineup. The entire lineup of Wrangler and Gladiator models feature Jeep's 'Trail Rated 4x4' badge, signifying that it has been put through Jeep's Trail Rated test. However, even the most hardened off-roaders continue to be impressed with the Rubicon's off-road prowess. At the heart of the Rubicon's capability is its exclusive Rock-Trac 4x4 system. Rock-Trac 4x4 features a two-speed transfer case with both 4-High and 4-Low drive modes. In 4-Low, the transfer case offers a 4:1 gear ratio, meaning that for every four rotations of the transmission output shaft, the axles will rotate once. The result of this gear ratio is higher amounts of torque at lower speeds, providing total confidence while navigating rugged terrain. Aiding in the Rubicon's impressive traction is locking front and rear differentials. At the push of a button, the rear or both the front and rear axles can be locked, allowing all four wheels to spin at the same speed, this provides the Wrangler with smooth momentum while overcoming uneven terrain. And as every off-roader knows, momentum and traction are the keys to success. The Rubicon also features an exclusive electronic sway-bar disconnect. This allows the driver to disconnect the front stabilizer bar at the push of a button. By doing so, the front wheels can rise and drop further, allowing the tires to remain in contact with the surface below, no matter how uneven it gets. Other exclusive Wrangler Rubicon features include but are not limited to FOX suspension parts, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires, a one-inch factory lift, underbody skid plates, and more. Meanwhile, the Rubicon X models, available for both the Wrangler and Rubicon, add even more off-roading equipment, including a winch-capable steel front bumper, a forward-facing off-road camera, and more.
What is the Gladiator Mojave?
While the Gladiator Rubicon is designed for tackling rocky, uneven terrain with its Trail Rated badge, the Gladiator Mojave features a 'Desert Rated' badge and is designed more for tearing up sandy dunes. The Mojave trim features exclusive 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass shock absorbers with external reservoirs and hydraulic jounce bumpers to maintain a smooth ride. Meanwhile, the front suspension is raised by an inch, providing a greater approach angle. The Mojave features a Tru-Lok locking rear differential to enhance traction on loose sand. Like the Rubicon, it also features 33-inch all-terrain tires to keep a solid grip on the terrain. While the Rubicon features red accents on the Trail Rated badge, trim name lettering on the side of the hood, and tow hooks, the Mojave features orange ones to stand out. Another standout feature of the Mojave is the functional performance hood scoop, adding to the trim's high-performance nature. This sportiness is complemented by the cabin's performance seat bolsters and sport steering wheel. Like the Rubicon models, the Mojave features the Off-Road+ button. However, in the Mojave it features a high-speed mode for the rear locker, designed for those high-speed rips on loose sand. In 2024, the Mojave X is introduced, featuring the same content as the Rubicon X.
What's Special About the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe?
The Trailhawk trim joined the Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup in 2012 and is now exclusive to the Grand Cherokee 4xe lineup. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe features Jeep's renowned Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system with an electronic limited-slip rear differential. The Quadra-Drive system provides impeccable traction by constantly reading the vehicle's traction at each wheel with a network of sensors and adjusting the powertrain's torque distribution to provide maximum traction at all times with minimal driver input. Meanwhile, the limited-slip rear differential allows for up to 100% of available engine torque to be sent to a single rear wheel if necessary. Like the aforementioned Rubicon models, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe features an electronic sway bar disconnect to enhance front wheel articulation. The Trailhawk trim also features Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction management system, featuring Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud, Rock, and Sport modes settings. This automatically makes adjustments to the power output, transmission shift points, traction control, and other systems to maximize performance on the selected terrain. Finally, the Trailhawk features Quadra-Lift air suspension with five available height settings. In its highest setting, the Trailhawk towers over the competition with 11.3 inches of ground clearance. Other off-roading features include knobby all-terrain tires, high-strength steel skid plates, an integrated forward-facing off-road camera, and an anti-glare hood decal with a 'Trailhawk' inscription.
