There are two powertrain options for the 2024 Dodge Hornet. The first comes with the GT and GT Plus trims. Standard equipment is a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, which lays down a best-in-class 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged engine sends power through a nine-speed automatic transmission to an advanced all-wheel drive system. This system provides power distribution both front to back and side to side with active torque vectoring. During straight-line driving, torque is split evenly between the front and rear wheels as well as the left and right wheels. However, when cornering, the side-to-side torque split adjusts itself to provide more torque to the outside wheels to provide greater stability through the corner. The benefit of this is a smoother turn with greater traction, providing a confident, fun driving experience, even on windy roads. 

As was previously mentioned, the Dodge Hornet R/T and R/T Plus are Dodge's first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The Hornet R/T PHEV powertrain features a 1.3L turbocharged I-4 engine powering the front wheels. Meanwhile, a 90-kilowatt electric drive module (EDM) is mounted to the rear axle to power the rear wheels. This EDM is powered by a rechargeable battery pack strategically located under the rear seat to maximize cargo and passenger space. The turbocharged engine and electric motor work in harmony to provide all-wheel drive traction, which still features active torque vectoring. This setup provides the Hornet R/T models with an impressive 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to the rear EDM, 184 lb-ft of torque is available instantly, as electrons are constantly flowing, providing a best-in-class 0-60 time of just 5.6 seconds. Power is transferred through a six-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, sequential gear control is available with the use of the paddle shifters mounted to the steering column. For even more advanced performance, the Hornet R/T models offer Dodge's new PowerShot feature, which delivers a 15-second burst of 30 additional horsepower at the push of a button. The Hornet R/T models also feature KONI frequency adaptive damping suspension, Brembo high-performance brakes, dual exhaust tips, and Graphite Gray 18-inch alloy wheels.

While offering the practicality that CUVs are known to provide, Dodge honors its muscle car roots with unique styling cues that set it apart from the pack. The Hornet puts on an aggressive face with an intimidating forward-leaning stance and slim rectangular headlight housings with LED daytime running lights and brilliant LED headlamps. At the center of the slim grille, you'll find the Dodge Rhombi emblem, and below it is where the mailslot opening is found. This opening is a distinct design element previously exclusive to the Charger SRT Hellcat models. The Hornet's front end also features a large lower fascia flanked by two air intakes. Below is a protruding front splitter, adding to the muscle car attitude. The hood is adorned with large functional dual heat extractors for optimal engine cooling. At the rear, you'll find bright red LED taillamps with a slim LED light bar connecting them. At the center of the red light bar, you'll see an LED-illuminated Dodge Rhombi emblem. Stepping inside, you'll enjoy Dodge's distinct driver-focused dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment touchscreen as the focal point. Behind the steering wheel, essential driving information, such as a digital speedometer, a tachometer, driver assists, navigation directions, and more, are displayed on a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, fully customizable to the driver's preferences. Other standard interior features include push-button start, six speakers, cloth/leatherette seating, dual-zone climate control, a full suite of driver assists, and much more.
