Newly available for the 2022 model year is Jeep’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) system, titled 4xe. The 4xe powertrain is available for the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit trims. This mates a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine to two electric motors powered by a 400-volt rechargeable battery pack. In addition to 56 MPG and a 470-mile combined driving range, the Grand Cherokee 4xe models supply 375 horsepower and an exciting 470 lb-ft of immediate torque. While rear-wheel drive is standard three of Jeep’s best 4x4 systems, Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II, with a rear electronic limited-slip differential.
